October Mission Project

During the month of October we will be collecting the following items: socks, underwear, hooded sweatshirts and sweatpants, and gently used
walking shoes. These will be distributed to those in need throughout the area through Open Table. Please help this ministry of keeping men, women, and children clothed as we are entering our colder season. Drop off the items at the giving tree in the church narthex. Contact Sandy Knapp at sknapp719@icloud.com if you have any questions.

Will you support NAMI-RI and all the work they do to support, educate, and advocate for individuals and their families that deal with mental
health conditions? All of our programming is free to the community, not just to our members. Our goal is to end the shame and stigma that people have out of fear of something they can’t control or completely understand. I know my congregation has dealt as families with our loved ones who daily deal with mental illness. Please join my team in supporting NAMI-RI with not just funds but also your time to come out to the walk and meet the people that are trying to make a difference in people’s lives. Be part of our community of mental health champions and
advocates. The Walk will be held on Sunday, October 24th in Roger Williams Park or virtually by walking 7000 steps for a 5K from anywhere. You can also hold a virtual bake-off, do a 5K on your treadmill or stationary bike, or find some other creative way to fundraise for this organization.

Shepherd’s Pantry

Thank you for your continued support of the Food Pantry. We need vegetables, soup, pasta and pasta sauce, jelly and snacks. Gift cards to help out with things like milk, fruit and meat (or cards that can also be used for gas) would be greatly appreciated. Running low on boxes too! Computer paper boxes are the ideal size. You can drop your donations off under the overhang at the entrance to the Hope Room. Someone is at the church regularly to collect and distribute your offerings.

Community Garden

Our garden is an important source of fresh food for our food pantry, and we continue to need help with harvesting our crops and putting the garden to bed as fall rolls around. Please contact the church office if you are interested. Timing/hours are flexible.

Magazines Needed

Please save your old magazines. AJ, one of our church children, relieves stress by tearing magazines and needs more given the increased tension of these times. Please drop your magazines off outside the Hope Room door (where the food pantry bins are located). We will be sure to get them to AJ.

Medical Assistance Fund

The Medical Assistance Fund was established some years ago to help congregation members with medical bills and related expenses. If you need this type of help, please contact Pastor Effie directly.

Save Your Pop-Tabs!

Keep saving your pop-tabs (soda or soup cans, etc.), putting them in the box in the kitchen, for the Ronald McDonald house in Providence.

We have a number of shut-ins who could use a phone call, card, note, or delivery. Contact Pastor Effie or the church office if you can help.
